Most important change, no more NSQ files!
NPrinting 17 no longer uses NSQ files. This basically means that all customers who are already using NPrinting will have to rebuild the reports in NPrinting's Web console.
You can do this by exporting a NPrinting Project (NSQ) to a ZIP file. Then you can create a new report in QV NPrinting 17, read the ZIP file, choose the correct report from a list and save the template. Watch the video “Import report templates in QlikView NPrinting ”.
Installations
The NPrinting installation no longer consists of a Server and a Client but of a Server, Engine and Client installation. Before NPrinting 17 can be installed, NPrinting 16 must first be uninstalled, please note that you still need NPrinting Designer 15.6 to 16 SR3 to export the projects to ZIP files before you start installing NPrinting 17.
Installation QlikView NPrinting Server
Also installs Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2, RabbitMQ Server and Erlang OTP.
Also creates the following services:
- QlikView NPrinting Scheduler
- QlikView NPrinting Web Engine
- QlikNPrintingRepoService
Installation of QlikView NPrinting Engine
Also installs Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 and PDF-XChange.
I would like to refer you to the manual for connecting the NPrinting Server to the NPrinting Engine.
Installation of Qlikview NPrinting Designer
Only used for “Editing” the reports. Opening the Designer is done through the Web console. Full scheduling and reporting to users is done via the Web console.
Licenses
NPrinting v16 licenses can be used for NPrinting v17.
Multi Engine and multi user environment
For NPrinting v17 it is possible to have the NPrinting Scheduler control multiple NPrinting Engines. This makes it Enterprise ready. NPrinting 17 also has a multi developer environment. For more differences between NPrinting 16 and 17 I would like to refer you to: at the bottom of the page. Note that there are still a few things to add to newer versions of NPrinting 17.
Qlikview NPrinting On Demand
At the moment it is not yet possible to use NPrinting On Demand on 17.
