Qlik was the first in the in-memory Business Intelligence industry to recognize that meaningful analytics belong in the hands of the users who need the information. It QlikView product enables users to easily search their data without restrictions.
Qlik was founded in 1993 as a consultancy company. The office was located at Ideon in Lund, Sweden, in one of the oldest science parks in the world. One of the founders' first tasks was to develop a tool for analyzing multi-dimensional data. From the first time this consultancy challenge was resolved, the founders noticed that analyzing from various sources was, and still is, a common problem for many companies. This has led to the development of AQLTM (Assosiative Query Logic), a method that made it possible to load and combine data from various databases. AQL was patented in 1994.
QlikView is the name of the software that was connected based on this patent. After the patent was applied for, version 1997 was released in 3.15, which could be installed on a PC as a standard program. In 1994, the company had more than 1500 customers worldwide. In 1994 the company was therefore welcomed as a very successful Swedish software producer. But then a decision had to be made. Used to be QlikView a typically Scandinavian or a global phenomenon? At the end of 1994, Accel Partners and Jerusalem Venture Partners, the world's leading venture capitalists, made an investment QlikView to launch globally. Since 1994 the company has grown very quickly. Currently has QlikView more than 504.000 users in 95 countries and over 10.000 customers. The company grows with an average of 14 customers per day.
QlikView 8 was released in May 2007. Qlik is not only recognized today as the leading producer of next-generation BI solutions, but has also been the fastest growing BI software company in the world for two consecutive years (2004-2006), according to IDC. Qlik's turnover increases by 80% annually.
