Qlik Sense: reporting for everyone!

Qlik, the supplier of QlikView, launches Qlik Sense: a reporting tool that can be used by anyone. Even without an IT background, it is now a breeze to build beautiful visualisations. Qlik Sense can be used on any desired device. In addition to the (free) desktop version, the official licenses (tokens) are also available. You can now simply drag and drop graphs fed by your own data. Flexibility is paramount!

QlikView vs Qlik Sense.

Qlik Sense is not a new version of it QlikView; it is completely new software. It concerns two different user interfaces that use the same analysis engine. This means that old scripts almost always work in the same way as before. Yet the two tools are different. The differences at a glance:

Qlik Sense.

A reporting tool that requires relatively little preparation (development work).
The user is completely free to compose his own layout and build his own charts.
Qlik Sense offers “self-service” data discovery, which means that there is a more active, more modern and more engaged user.
Qlik Sense has “smart search” (à la Google) and storytelling (sharing insights with each other)
User-friendly and modern, adapts to screen size.

QlikView

Intended for business applications that require a lot of preparation in the data model, charts and formulas.
This application is made available to the end user (guided analytics).
The end user has complete freedom to explore, select and navigate data in the information. In this way he finds both questions and answers in the data.
However, the end user is limited in creating new visualizations.

In addition, supports Qlik Sense data integration to seamlessly compare and analyze multiple disparate data sources. The powerful APIs allow developers to use Qlik Unlock Sense to web pages and other applications. In addition, developers can add additional functionalities as desired. Qlik Sense is the first release of a version that will be further developed and will gradually get more options and functions. Many functions of QlikView will be embedded in the future Qlik Sense.

Availability

Qlik Sense is available worldwide from today. Qlik also introduces a new, flexible payment model based on tokens. Qlik Sense tokens can be assigned to regular users, but also to login sessions for one or more users. With a token-based licensing model, customers can deploy multiple servers across multiple regions without incurring additional costs.

Qlik Sense is complementary to the already existing QlikView platform. Next Qlik Sense remains Qlik also its existing QlikView develop and maintain products. Qlik Sense Desktop also remains available as a free download.
