Last February 4, research firm Gartner published the new Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms.

With regard to previous years, Gartner has mainly focused on functionalities of the BI tooling that meet the requirements that are currently expected of a modern Business Intelligence solution. These are mainly applications in the field of Self-Service BI and Self-Service Data Preparation. This has led to significant shifts in the Leaders quadrant. The more traditional BI tools, mainly strong in Enterprise Reporting, must recognize their superiority in the field of 'modern BI' in Qlik, Tableau and Microsoft and can no longer be found in the Leaders quadrant.
