Villanova School of Business
A professor at Villanova University’s School of Business tasked his students with a project to take the School of Business’ student data and, using QlikView, create an application that would be beneficial to both students and administrators at the university. The data model was created by the professor and the data was scrambled so that the data inside the application is now fictitious data and is in no way representative of the make-up of the current School of Business. The class was divided into five groups. Each group was given a tab to create and based on a list of specifications. The MIS class had no prior QlikView training and they relied on QlikView’s manuals, examples from the demo.qlikview.com website and the on-line QlikView community.Once the students had completed their project, their professor came to QlikTech and asked for our guidance in enhancing the application. QlikTech’s Demo & Best Practices team tweaked the application to adhere to QlikTech standards and the finished product is described in this document.The Villanova School of Business demo gives a look as to how QlikView can be used to analyze student data to identify trends, forecast staffing needs and keep students informed.To access the page as a student use ASCHMID / ASCHMID. To access the application as an office administrator use OFFICE / OFFICE.

TIQ Sentival
This application is a sentiment analysis tool for Web 2.0 data. It shows how social media streams can be analyzed and visualized with QlikView. It can analyze a person's emotions from published tweets, status messages or online comments. Sentiments are moods, sensations or opinions based on an emotion which a person may have regarding a business, a product, a service or another person. And we didn’t need to aggregate the data -- all the transactions are there and calculated every time you make a selection.
